Car wash at B&Q Hereford on
Sunday 20th April in aid of Fire Service National Benevolent Fund and West
Midlands Ambulance First Responders equipment fund. Thanks to
John Chance and the crew of Ewyas Harold Fire Station for organising
and working so hard. Responders from Ewyas Harold and the
Golden Valley Unit were there to get wet and sell raffle tickets.

The 999 or 112 call into
Ambulance Control is passed by either phone or pager to the
Responder Unit as well as the dispatch of the nearest Emergency
Ambulance - PLI Responder carries: defibrillator, oxygen,
entonox, dressings, blankets, resuscitation
equipment, blood pressure and oxygen saturation machine, burn
dressings, splints, personal protective clothing for Responders,
scene lighting, satellite navigation, chemical data bases both
computer and reference books, light sticks, fire extinguishers plus
a host of useful items including foam mats, shovel, etc.

TRAINING

Training for Polo Club -
suspected neck injury after fall from horse.
Training by the UNIT in
partnership with Pulse Cymru are able to offer first aid at work,
manual handling and training for
specialist rescue situations - storage tanks, horse riding incidents, machinery, falls on construction sites, etc.

Golden
Valley Responder Unit supports the Salvation Army Disabled
Children's Home in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and has raised with
Shropshire Ambulance & Park Lodge International Ltd. and many
others £8,500 for a new generator - the
web page
gives full
details.
The generator is now in place and running well - a big thank you to
all who donated and helped with this venture. Idea in November
2005 - reality in May 2006!

APPEAL

New appeal starting soon
between the Golden Valley Responder Unit, West Midlands Fire Service
and Knight Support Kenya to raise funds to purchase a fire alarm
system, vibrating pads for the dormitories and to provide good means
of escape for a deaf school in Nairobi, Kenya. Watch for
details and who will be our mascot!
